AECOsim Building Designer Help

To map DataGroup types to IFC entities/classes

  1. Select (IFC Export) backstage tool to open the IFC Export dialog.

  2. In the IFC Export dialog, Mapping Options group box, click the Map button, next to the Map DataGroup Types and Properties (primary mapping) option, to open the Map DataGroup Types and Properties to IFC dialog.

A prefix of current MDV string (here "IFC2x3") is displayed in the end of dialog title.

Note: DataGroup type mappings defined by AECOsim Building Designer are disabled (display in gray) in the IFC Mapping column, and cannot be changed.
  3. In the Class Mapping tab, scroll down to the Profile class in the Class Mapping column.

  4. Select the cell in the IFC Mapping column, adjacent to the Profile class. The IFC Entities Classifications drop down box opens on the top of the column.
  5. In the IFC Entities Classifications drop down list, scroll through the list to find the IFC class type that you want to map to. You can also enter a text string in the Search field (located at the top of the drop down box) to display both parent and children items, containing the search string. In this example, say search for CurtainWall. The classification result list narrows down the result.
  6. Select an IfcEntityClass, IfcTypeClass, or IfcPredefinedType, to add to the mapping table. In this example, we select IfcCurtainWall.IfcCurtainWallType.
Note: Double click the item to add it to the IFC Mapping column in the dialog.
Note: To remove a mapping in the IFC Entities Classifications dialog, click Clear Mapping.
  7. Click Save to add the selected item to the mapping table, and dismiss the dialog.
Note: The newly mapped item is enabled (displays in bold) in the IFC Mapping column, and can be changed.
